NORTHERN KENTUCKY (FOX19) -

A tornado watch that was in effect for parts of the FOX19 viewing area has expired.

Heavy storms and isolated strong thunderstorms with gusty winds moved through the Tri-state from west to east on Wednesday morning. The storms left about 2,600 Duke Energy customers without power, with just about half of those being in Campbell County.

Wind gusts were reported upwards of 60 miles per hour in Wilmington and 57 miles per hour at Lunken Airport.

Rain showers continue into early afternoon. Temperatures will start to fall this afternoon into the mid-50's and then 40's by late evening with some showers around. Then flurries overnight as we drop into the 20's and then daytime highs in the upper teens on Friday.

The rain also creating slow traffic on area roads. Stay up to date on the traffic conditions with our Traffic Tracker.

There are also some school closings and delays. Click here for a list.

Meteorologists Jeff Creighton and Frank Marzullo will continue to keep you updated.
