1 dead as vast storm rakes South, Midwest
You might forgive Midwesterners for feeling a little whipsawed by the weather.Full Story >A large storm system packing high winds, hail and several possible tornadoes tore across a wide swath of the South and Midwest on Wednesday, killing one person, blacking out power to thousands and damaging homes.Full Story >
A tornado watch that was in effect for parts of the FOX19 viewing area has expired.
Heavy storms and isolated strong thunderstorms with gusty winds moved through the Tri-state from west to east on Wednesday morning. The storms left about 2,600 Duke Energy customers without power, with just about half of those being in Campbell County.
Wind gusts were reported upwards of 60 miles per hour in Wilmington and 57 miles per hour at Lunken Airport.
Rain showers continue into early afternoon. Temperatures will start to fall this afternoon into the mid-50's and then 40's by late evening with some showers around. Then flurries overnight as we drop into the 20's and then daytime highs in the upper teens on Friday.
